How to add a widget on your Android device's lock screen

If your phone is running Android version 4.2 or later, you can add any widget on your lock screen. This is a very simple process and it only takes 4 easy steps. Just follow the steps below.

1. Bring up your device’s lock screen (turn the screen off and then back on or if it is already off, turn it on)

2. Swipe or drag the clock widget sideways, from left to right until you see the page with the Plus icon (if you do not have any other widgets, that should be the first page you will see)

3. Tap the Plus icon to bring up a list of available widgets

4. Select the desired widget (tap it once). The widget will be placed on your lock screen.

Note that you can repeat the steps above to add as many widgets as you like. You can also change the order of the widgets by tapping and holding (long tap), then dragging them and dropping them to the new position. You can also delete home screen widgets by tapping and holding, then dropping them in the trash icon.

    1. Check the lockscreen/security settings under your device settings:

      1. Open device settings
      2. Scroll down and hit the Security tab.
      3. Press the Lock screen options tab and make sure all settings are set properly
